Raaz – the mystery continues…

An all right scary thriller with a scary & cool start. It has good visuals to give proper creepy atmosphere. The movie is meant to be experienced in cinema hall or by an original DVD since there are various dark scenes which are difficult to watch if the print is from cinema screening or similar.

The movie is sequel to Raaz, but the story has nothing to do with prequel.

Chandni Chowk to China

Funny Bollywood Kung-Fu movie. The kung-fu scenes are just average and the story is somehow filmy and unrealistic, but still it’s very entertaining. It has lots of funny dialogues and Akshay Kumar has again proven himself in a comic role. It seems like that the movie is inspired by Kung Fu Hustle.

Unfortunately, the movie experienced unhappy destiny at the box office despite its good qualities.

Vantage Point

All right action thriller. The story is told in an innovative way. However, the way the story is told, you can predict that the climax is going to be surprising. So how much surprise will you achieve when you already know that there is a surprise waiting for you!?

Valkyrie / Operation Walküre

Good movie. The story is inspired by real events during World War 2, where some German Nazi army officers set up a plan to overthrown Adolf Hitler and take over the country. Simply because they didn’t shared Hitler’s vision of Nazism. As history shows, they failed. Still, the movie provides a thrilling experience even though you know what is going to happen in the end. There is no doubt that this is a well made film.

The movie shows other sides of the officers in Nazi regime, and not only brutal. In addition, the movie shows the fascinating organization structure of how countries are run.

Eastern Promises

All right movie about the Russian mafia. On the cover of the DVD, it was stated that the movie was a thriller. I’ll rather regard the movie as a drama than thriller.

The movie gives an all right interesting description of the Russian mafia, but the story was relatively uninspiring.

The Dark Knight

Amazing cool movie just like previous time I watched it. This time, I experienced it on Blu-ray on my new bought TV.

In the making of-material, it was mentioned that the movie is also made by Imax-cameras, and I think that has worked very well to give the movie phenomenal cinematography.

Raaz

In order to refresh to the upcoming sequel to this movie, Raaz - The Mystery Continues..., I refreshed the concept by watching this one again. It seems like that these two movies aren’t related to each other.

This one was actually copy of the Hollywood movie “What Lies Beneath”. Raaz is all right cool, with some scary scenes. Still it has various typical clichéful dialogues.

Slumdog Millionaire

This movie is based on the popular Indian book “Q & A: A novel”. There has been made several changes in the story in order to fit the movie format.

The movie is well made, and the director, Danny Boyle, has proved himself again by making such a Bollywood kind of English movie. It has several actors from Bollywood. A.R. Rahman has scored the cool background music, and he has already won award(s) for this particular work. The climax was also nice executed.

Ishaara

Extremely poor movie with third class actors, story, music and everything poor.

Actually, I knew that this is going to be a horrible experience, but sometimes it is all right to watch such poor movies to get an understanding of how good average movies are actually.

Rating: 1 of 6 (I would have given it 0,00001 of 6 if it was possible)

36 China Town

Strange title, but still a funny thriller. It combines different genres in a nice way, and the main genres are thriller and comedy.

Jodhaa Akbar

Magnificent historical movie, which is all right made and has good cinematography. It has lots of fans, but for me it was waste of time just as I expected. The director, Ashutosh Gowariker have made a couple of movies earlier, which I liked very well, but this time it’s not easy to understand what he has tried to make. Is it a love story? If so, the movie misses dramatic and inspiring love story moments. If it’s historical drama, it’s not that inspiring. This is Ashutosh’s least good work till date.
