Detektor

Detektor is an interesting drama with a good screenplay. Norwegian drama movies tend to lack background score in many scenes, but this time there was a background theme which helped a lot.

Partner

Partner is the Indianised copy of the Hollywood flick Hitch with Will Smith. In our desi version, you will find Salman Khan in the role of as love guru. The movie is funny, but also somehow bongi which is very common David Dhawan directed films. In addition, the editing department has done a poor job which also is common in movies which are directed David Dhawan and the story is to some extent screwed up, especially during the climax.

The choreography was noticeable. The dances were cool, fresh and new.

All in all, a funny time pass movie.

Naqaab

Ok and time pass thriller with some surprising turns during the climax. The background was inspired from the previous movies of Abbas-Mustan, i.e. Ajnabee.

Zozo

Okey and time pass movie from the director of the Swedish movies “Jalla Jalla” and “Kopps”. This time the director has tried his hands on drama, which deals around a boy who survives the war environment in Beirut, Lebanon and travels to Sweden. The movie had some nice moments, but for me a relatively uninspiring story.

Kal Ho Naa Ho

”Kal Ho Naa Ho” is a touching and beautiful love story and one of the best movies ever. It is also regarded as one of my favourite movies.

Sopranos - Season 1

Nice and interesting series. The climax during the last episodes reminded me of a mafia movie, so the whole series can be regarded as a large movie but seen from a different angle.

Apne

Apne is a really good movie and it wouldn’t surprise me at all if it would be nominated for the best movie of the year. The screenplay is just damn good, and the background score is nice and touching. The boxing/action scenes are well edited and give an intense atmosphere.

I would never have imagined that I will give a sixer to a movie from the Deols, but this time they have delivered a high quality product. For those who still haven’t been convinced: I will say that this movie can be put into same category as “Million Dollar Baby” which is action drama. You should really give it a try!

Aap Kaa Surroor – The Moviee – The Real Luv Story

One of this year’s most over hyped movie where the marketing division of the movie has done a really good job to make this a hit. The movie isn’t actually so good and is only a time-pass and has to some extent uninspiring story. The production design is in many places unnecessary over dimensioned.

Despite these things, I think that the general public will find the movie as a reasonable entertaining.

Awarapan

Awarapan is again a quality product from the production house of Bhatts. Emran Hasmi has delivered a really hatke and good performance compared to his previous roles where he’s established as a “serial kisser”.

There were some minor faults in the script, but reduced some of the movie watching experience. One or two of the songs are just putted in the movie, and could easily be cut away. Many have already noted it, but it is really important to highlight how good music the movie has. Therefore, the fans of the music appreciate the effort put into making good videos of them.

Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix

The movie was OK and had a nice executed climax. Actually, I haven’t seen the previous Harry Potter movie so I had some difficulties to catch up with the story but it wasn’t that difficult. In addition, our seats in the cinema hall was too close to the screen so I kept my head switching between reading the subtitles at the bottom side of the screen and at the middle of the screen to watch who was saying that line.

The movie was dark, and people should question whether it is suited for children anymore.

Lindeman & Sachs

Lindeman & Sachs is a Norwegian novel and the story deals around the Norwegian business society. It follows particularly two guys throughout their career from 60’s to late 80’s. Some reviewers said that the book was a thriller, which I disagree with. The book is interesting, but not a thriller.

When you are reading it, sometimes you get a feeling of that some characters in the book are inspired from the real life in the Norwegian business society. Therefore, the book will be more interesting for those who are interested and has kept updated in this field.

Good Night, And Good Luck

Good Night, And Good Luck was Oscar nominated for best movie, but I didn’t like it so much. The movie is in black/white and has almost no background score. The climax wasn’t so exciting either.

DOA - Dead Or Alive

Dead or Alive is an action movie based on a video game with the same title. The movie is like many other such “game converted to movie”-projects; thin story and good action.

Ek Ajnabee

Ek Ajnabee is an Indianised version of the Hollywood flick ”Man on Fire” with Denzel Washington. The Indian version is actually more fancy and cool than the original. These two movies use different visual themes but still telling the same story, and I liked the desi one better. Therefore I watched it for second time and you see the comment here.

Fearless

Fearless is a Chinese martial art action movie with Jet Li. This is in fact Jet Li’s last action movie with historical story. The movie has beautiful shot martial art action scenes as in “Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon” and “Hero”. In addition, it has some powerful drama scenes which mean that the movie isn’t just an action movie but also has other qualities.

It is actually difficult to grade such kind of movies, because my experience says that their grading tend to improve the next time I watch the movie again because you’ll notice other cool things which you didn’t noticed first time. Still, I give it following grading:

24 - Season 5

This season continues in the same direction as the previous season, and you’ll get good action, interesting story and drama. After watching so many seasons of the series, you know what the concept is about. Every season is full of twists and multiple surprises. After experiencing so many surprises, you don’t get so surprised when a surprise comes. That’s what has begun to happen with 24 now. Despite its good qualities, I didn’t get so surprised when the story took surprising turns.

This season had excellent background score. The composer has done a good job to create music for every kind of situation, whether it is action scenes, thriller or drama.

The series has improved so much that you enjoy this more than an average action movie. Therefore, action movies has to deliver much more now in order to get an all right review because it will “automatically” be compared to this kind of series’.

Live Free or Die Hard 4.0

Die Hard 4.0 (also known as “Live Free or Die Hard 4.0”) brings back action hero John McClane. In well known terms, the movie is full of cool action scenes, funny dialogues and all right story. When it comes to action scenes, a friend used the Norwegian term “De har ikke spart på kruttet”, which means that action scenes have been given a priority here. You’ll find car crashes, F-35, helicopters, lots of guns etc etc…

The Digital Fortress (Den Digitale Festning)

The Digital Fortress (Den Digitale Festning) is written by Dan Brown, the man behind The Da Vinci Code and Angels and Demons. The book has a very interesting story and you can’t lay down the book before it is read through. I think the book was written in 1997, and I found some drama techniques which were very common in screenplays in that period of time.

Rating: 5 of 6

The Sentinel

OK and time pass movie. Action –and thriller movies are not the same after watching a pulse raging and exciting series like 24. Movies tend to be too slow compared to the series. Sentinel is an interesting and average movie set in Secret Service environment and has all right performances.
