Horrible and irritating action movie. The trailers are inspiring and the music is good too, but the execution is too clichéful and the movie is full of classical and clichéful dialogues. The effects used in the movie are of fare below average quality, and almost all CGI effects remind you of the first time such effects came. Actually, the effects in Hollywood movies from 70-80’s are better than this one. Simply waste of time.

Kites
Boring movie with Hrithik Roshan and Barbara Mori (Mexican actress and model) as the lead pair. The movie tells a love story, which has been told several times earlier. This time, the execution is somehow different; the movie is made in US and is also meant towards Western public by making two version of movie, one for the Indian and desi market, and the second for the Western market. The execution is professionally done, but as many similar love stories, the story has lots of clichés and holes. Therefore, it had nothing particularly to offer.

Chase
This is a B- or C-grade movie, which means that not many people watch such movies. After working at a movie shop several years, I am used to watch this kind of crap as well. So after a break for over a year without watching such crap, it’s good to watch it again to understand how well average movies actually are.
This movie had a horrible beginning, and I was convinced that this was a perfect candidate for rating 1. However, the movie got better and better, so I give it rating 3.
The story deals around a guy who is chased by police. Why? Watch it! The makers have used several techniques to make it cool, but the treatment always reminds you that this movie is a B –or C grade.

De Dana Dan
Time pass comedy with some hilarious moments. Priyadarshan is the director, and he tend to be too repetitive and this movie confirms it again.

My name is Khan
The latest adventure from Karan Johar, Shahrukh Khan (SRK) and Kajol. SRK plays a role of autism, which is one of his better performances. The story deals around 9/11 attacks and its effects on desis in USA. I think the movie is too lengthy, and the climax is too filmy and larger-than-life. I’ve expected something different from this kind of movie with such serious topics. Several portions of the movie are simply gripping which tells us that the movie is well made with a good script. But the length of the movie drags it somehow down.

Chance Pe Dance
All right musical movie about a guy who struggles to get launched in a Bollywood movie. Actually, the trailers were funnier than the movie itself. The movie is loosely based on Shahid Kapoor’s experiences when he tried to enter Bollywood. The movie is made by Ken Ghosh, who has made better movies earlier (Ishq Vishk and Fida).Rating: 4/3 of 6

Ishqiya
All right movie, produced by Vishal Bharadwaj (i.e. Maqbool and Kaminey. Two street smart guys (Naseeruddin Shah and Arshad Warsi) come to Krishna (Vidya Balan) to overnight. But Krishna turns out to be a mysterious woman…The movie has elements from different genre, i.e. humor, drama, action etc. It has its particular which is common for Bharadwaj movies. Sometimes it works, sometimes not, and this time, I think the result is just average.

Paa
Relatively uninspiring movie which is based on a genetic condition known as Progeria and is particularly about a father-son relationship. It’s about a 12 year old boy with Progeria, who is mentally normal but looks like 5 times older. And he is expected to live till he is 13 or 14 year old because of his illness. The boy is portrayed by Amitabh Bachchan, and his father is Abhishek Bachchan. The movie has gained lots of success, both commercially and by critiques. For me, the movie is pretty much uninspiring with some humour and good climax.

8 x 10 Tasveer
Cool supernatural thriller with Akshay Kumar, made by Nagesh Kukunoor (i.e. 3 Deewarein and Iqbal). The movie is made in Canada, and has lots of beautiful outdoor locations. The story is following; Jai’s (Akshay Kumar) has a supernatural talent to go back in time by looking into a picture. His father dies, and a detective (Javed Jaffrey) approaches Jai claiming that his father’s death is suspicious. Jai first denies this, but later finds out that several people have strange motives which could have led to his father’s death…The movie is well made and has several thrilling moments and twists. Unfortunately, it failed at the box office. Still, its regarded as one of Akshay Kumar’s favourite films he had done.

Rann
New movie from Ram Gopal Varma (RGV) who has made both extremely good and extremely boring movies. This time, the result is average. The movie deals around the role of media in politics and society, and it tells a story where media not only report news, but also make news….The movie is well edited, and cinematography is also top class as always in RGV movies. Still, something was missing to give THE experience which some of RGV’s movies gives sometimes. Probably the script? Or probably the trailers which revealed too much of the story, and there weren’t anything surprising in the movie and everything too predictable?

Pyaar Impossible
I started to watch this movie in the middle of it since it was playing at home, and it grabbed my interest. The story is about a computer geek (Uday Chopra) who is in love with Alisha (Priyanka Chopra), but can’t tell her. In addition, he has a conflict going on with Dino Morea’s character. As mentioned, the movie was interesting, but the climax and ending was too clichéful.

Kurbaan
All right movie about the hot topic in these days; namely terrorism by Islamic fundamentalists. The movie is just average. It began well with fast editing and speed, but slowed down after around 40 minutes and thereafter focuses hugely on drama. New York with a similar topic was a better movie actually.Rating: 5/4 of 6

Rocket Singh - Salesman of The Year
The movie is made by the team behind Chak De! India. Last time, their movie was about sports and hockey, and this time it’s about the particular field of sales. Harpreet Singh (Ranbir Singh) starts as salesman and experiences a world with corruption and other tricks to just get the sale deal. He takes the case in his hands, and tries to do something with it.Rating: 4/5 of 6

Tum Mile
Tum Mile is the latest movie from Vishesh Films, which has given several successful movies with Emran Hashmi. They are also known for good music of their movies. But this time, neither was the movie that inspiring, and neither the music. This movie is also marketed as India’s first catastrophe movie, but the low budget movie couldn’t offer exciting dramatic sequences either. Just a time pass movie, which can easily be replaced by another movies.Rating: 3 of 6
London Dreams
All right musical drama. It has couple of nice songs, but otherwise the music is uninspiring. The movie isn’t that inspiring either. The final song in the ending was nice executed. The director, Vipul Shah, has made several blockbusters which I liked, i.e. Waqt: The Race Against Time and Namastey London, and this is the only movie which I didn’t like as much as the mentioned.

3 Idiots
3 Idiots is from the makers of Munna Bhai-movies, which have been very successful. 3 Idiots also seems very funny in the trailers, so there weren’t any surprise that it started with a bang at the box office. The story structure of 3 Idiots reminds of Munna Bhai-movies. These movies had their particular themes, i.e. medicine education and Gandhigiri, and this time it’s about engineering education. Boman Irani is also repeated in a kind of comic negative role. The Munna Bhai-movies were also known for being family movies, which you can watch easily with all members in a family. 3 idiots has moved away from this concept, and is not so family oriented anymore. Some of the ingredients you’ll find is “below the navel”-humour and a birth scene. A number of desi families are (still) not comfortable to watch such things together.
Otherwise, the movie has a number of laughter full moments to offer, and some memorable moments.

Ajab Prem Ki Ghazab Kahani
Funny movie, made by Rajkumar Santoshi, who has also made several good movies earlier, i.e. Khakee, Family - Ties Of Blood and Andaz Apna Apna. The latter has also gained cult status among the publics as a comedy. Santoshi hasn’t made any comedy after that, so this movie is his first comedy after 15 years and therefore the expectations were huge.Ajab Prem Ki Ghazab Kahani is funny, and has several hilarious moments. There are used several elements from “comic books turned movie”, and actually some similar elements were also used in Andaz Apna Apna. The acting of Katrina Kaif and Ranbir Kapoor in a comic atmosphere is really good, and their face expressions are first class.
Despite the fact that the movie is funny etc, it lacks kind of soul. It provides a laughter-full journey, but is nothing you’ll remember some days later.

Wake Up S!d
“Wake up Sid” is an all right drama comedy about wealthy and young Sid, who enjoys his life and doesn’t care about his future. He has no ambitions about what to do other than to spend his father’s money. In fact, one scene where his father asks him what his plans are for the future, the scene reminded me of the scene from Dil Chahta Hai, where Aamir Khan’s character’s father asks him precisely same question. This is not a plus at all and is a sign of minor creativity. The movie tells Sid’s story and consequences of his life style. The movie has some nice and memorable moments, but the overall experience was just average. The name of Karan Johar, who is the producer of the movie, doesn’t help much to raise the quality of the movie.

All the Best
Funny and hilarious movie made by Rohit Shetty who has made Sunday and Golmaal Returns among others. Ajay Devgan is the producer of the movie in addition to act in it.The movie is full of “bongian” and the story has almost no logic, but still, this is actually what makes the movie funny and entertaining.

Ac!d Factory
Boring thriller. The story is actually all right, but due to the loose script, the movie will give a boring experience. The movie starts with that a group of people wake up and experience that have a kind of amnesia in an acid factory. The rest is about to find out whom they are, and why they are there. The climax is just average executed.Rating: 2/3 of 6
