Flightplan

Interesting thriller, but unfortunately it follows a number of the elements from the Hollywood-thriller-formula. Therefore, it doesn’t have so much innovation to provide.

Dhol

A so-called comedy movie about four idiots who are meant to end up in various so-called funny (actually bongi) situations.

Berlinerpoplene

Berlinerpoplene is a popular novel which came some years ago, and is written by Anne B. Ragde. The author won an award for it too, so it motivated me to read it.

The novel deals around some characters, and there is too much person portrayals and lack of action. In addition, the characters which are described I just found them so uninspiring (i.e. a gay and a farmer!).

The Triangle

The Triangle is a science-fiction mini series about the The Bermuda Triangle. The Bermuda Triangle is a documented area in the Atlantic sea, where a number of flights and ships have been missing, which has created a mystery around it. Now, here is a series about this phenomenon.

The series was interesting, but the first episode wasn’t that inspiring. In addition, there have been used digital computer effects extensively, and there isn’t so cool to watch so many such effects. Actually, it is better to have some natural effects, because the effects in the series looked faked.

Aggar

Aggar is made by the team behind Aksar, so I thought the movie is going to be as cool as Aksar. The genre of the movie is the same, namely thriller and the heroine is also the same; Udita Goswami. However, Aksar was better than Aggar. Aggar tend to use a number of the same techniques as Aksar, so you may find they somehow similar. In addition, Aksar had much better music than this one.

Bhool Bhulaiyaa

OK movie. It is directed by Priyadarshan who tend to make comedies, and this time he hasn’t made a particular comedy but a comedy thriller. This means that it isn’t focused only on the comedy, but on other genres as well. But I must say that the story wasn’t revolutionising at all, and you can easily find similar stories in movies from 80’ and 90’s. In addition, my youngest brother told me that the story is actually taken from a Pakistani drama series. Poor Bollywood writers in these days who copy story from America, Sri Lanka, Pakistan, Korea etc etc…

Letters from Iwo Jima

Please look at the note for “Flags of our Fathers”, which is a twin-movie of this movie before you read this.

“Letters from Iwo Jima” is about the attack on a Japanese island called Iwo Jima. This movie looks at the event from a Japanese point of view, and tells the stories about soldiers who were at Iwo Jima and tried to protect it.

The movie was good, and uses nice visuals to tell the story. However, I must say that some of the magic from Clint Eastwood was missing as I said for “Flags of our Fathers”.

Flags of our Fathers

Clint Eastwood has made multiple wonderful movies, and some of them are among favourites as well, i.e. Million Dollar Baby and Mystic River. So when I heard that he has made to twin-movies about an incident from World War II, I was looking forward to watch these.

“Flags of our Fathers” is about the attack on a Japanese island called Iwo Jima. This movie looks at the event from an American point of view, and tells the stories about soldiers who attacked Iwo Jima. The other twin-movie is from a Japanese perspective, and called Letters from Iwo Jima.

The movie was good, and uses nice visuals to tell the story. However, I must say that some of the magic from Clint Eastwood was missing.

The Illusionist

When I saw ”The Prestige”, various people compared it to ”The Illusionist”, primary because they have similar topic and came almost at the same time. They even said that “The Illusionist” was better than “The Prestige”, which I don’t agree with. The Illusionist lacks some of the thriller atmosphere and isn’t as exciting as The Prestige.

End of Time

Very interesting documentary about Islamic view of the judgement day. I think every Muslim should watch it and refresh their “iman”.

Darling

Darling is a time pass movie, which can be into categories as thriller, horror, romantic and comedy. It’s directed by Ram Gopal Varma, and his magic is again lacking here.
