Ghajini

Impressing movie with Aamir Khan. He has actually worked out in one year to prepare for this film, and the impressive result can be seen in the movie. The female part is done by the Tamil actor Asin, who has done a remarkable work. Sometimes, here role reminds of Kareena Kapoor in Jab We Met.

Ghajini is a great and strong movie which will impress you. The music is also good, which fits well with the movie concept. Despite the movie’s numerous advantages, it has some minor faults in the script which can irritate you.

Ghajini is a remake of the Tamil movie with same name, and which was a great success some years back in 2005. It has been inspired by the American movie Memento, but you can’t say that it’s a copy.

Assault on Precinct 13 / Beleiringen

All right action movie. The funniest thing was the horrible subtitles from Scandinavian Text Services (STS). It’s difficult to understand how someone can pay for such a loose job. As my friend said, even he could subtitle such movie very much better when half-sleeping, and STS are meant to be a professional distributor of subtitle services!!?!!

Hum Tumhare Hain Sanam

All right movie with a huge cast, but which took 6 years to complete it. This can also be seen a number of scenes which are old-fashioned executed. It had a couple of good songs though.

Terningkast: 5/6

The Guardian

All right action drama about US Coastal Guard.

Home Alone / Hjemme Alene

Good old classical Christmas movie.

Run Lola Run (Løp, Lola, Løp / Lola Rennt)

A great German movie from 1998/99 which has won multiple awards.

The story is about Lola, who gets a phone from here boyfriend who has lost 100.000 Deutschmarks, and has to pay them in 20 minutes. Lola then has 20 minutes to bring this amount of money, which she doesn’t have.

The movie is very innovative, and a number of the technical tricks we see here have been used in other movies later. I think this is one of the first movies after the age of computer animation which combined both animations and real movie. In addition, the energetic music in the background helps a lot to enhance the atmosphere in the movie. (The energetic music in this case is techno/trance which is my favourite genre. I simply love this music in movies when it’s used properly).

Lions for Lambs

Political action drama about US’ foreign war politics. The actors have delivered good performances, but the topic/story wasn’t that interesting.

James Bond: Quantum of Solace

Disappointing compared to Casino Royale. This one began well with action, but Bond seemed to bee too focused on killing people than evolving the story forward. And the limited story evolvement wasn’t that novel and creative.

Still various good action scenes to offer, and good entertainment.

Shoot ‘Em Up

A really cool action movie with Clive Owen. It has no complicated story to offer, but simply good action entertainment. Actually, it was long time ago I enjoyed an action movie that much as this one. The genre of this movie actually reminded me of Guy Ritchie who also tend to make similar movies; action with dark humour.

In the “making of”-material, someone mentioned that this film consisted of more gunshots than words said. I don’t doubt about that at all.

Maharathi

All right “film noir” kind of thriller drama.

Oh, My God!!

Nice comedy with Vinay Pathak. The movie has novel story and good script. This movie reminds of Bheja Fry which came one year ago, and which also included Vinay Pathak.

Kaante

A great action thriller, and actually among one of my favourite movies. It’s made in Los Angeles by American crew, and which helped the makers to give the right atmosphere and visuals. This movie is one of the most legendary action thrillers in the history of bollywood.

The movie is made by Sunjay Gupta who is known for “bollywoodizing” foreign/American movies. Kaante was inspired from Heat and Reservoir Dogs, and actually I liked Kaante better than Reservoir Dogs.

All of the actors have delivered superb performances. Mahesh Manjrekar made his debut as an actor with this movie and impressed a lot. Unfortunately for him, his other acting performances have not been as successful as in this movie.

The climax is executed great, and leaves you with a thought…this can also happen…

Gumnaam

Horrible baqwas movie. It was supposed to come in 2003, but was postponed. After watching it, I understand the good reasons for postponing it. The movie is made like movies from 90’s.

It’s unbelievable that the screenplay writer of Apne can make something like shit of this movie.

Gone Baby Gone

I was really looking forward to this movie when I heard that it was based on a book by the author of Mystic River. Mystic River was a fabulous movie, and I thought Gone Baby Gone would also be very much in the same path. Unfortunately, the watching experience wasn’t exactly the same as for Mystic River.

The story of this movie is different, and the acting performances are good as well. The main thing I missed was the focus on background score. The score didn’t work as an extended arm to give the right atmosphere in the movie. And this affects watching experience badly some times.

Rogue Assassin / War

All right and time pass thriller. The movie has some cool sequences, but you’ve seen most of it earlier and there is not so much extra ordinary new here.

EMI - Liya Hai To Chukana Padega!

Cool movie with a strange and uninspiring title. The movie combines humour and serious issues, and sometimes reminds of Munna Bhai-movies.

Suniel Shetty is one the producers of this film. Unfortunately for him, this movie also adds to the list of flopping movies made by him.

Dostana

Funny movie from the well-known Karan Johar as producer. Abhishek Bachchan and John Abraham work fabulous as pretending homosexuals.

Still, the script had some faults, i.e. Abhishek and John convince Priyanka that they are a pair, and in the meanwhile they choose to live in separate rooms!?

All in all, it’s a funny movie.
