One of the best and monumental movies of out times.

But I was somehow dissapionted that the Blu-ray don't include commentary by the makers in the background.

Mannen som elsket Yngve / The Man Who Loved Yngve

I had lost the touch for Norwegian movies with several disappoints lately, but this movie regained the hope. The movie is based on a novel, and is good drama. The story deals around Jarle who has the best girl friend and the coolest best friend he could imagine. But then, a new boy, Yngve, joins his class and things starts to change…

As the title indicates, the movie has a bold topic, namely a homosexual relationship between boys. Despite this, as said earlier, the movie is good drama and entertainment.

Surrogates

All right science fiction movie from director of Terminator 3, Jonathan Mostow. The movie concept is that in the future, people use so-called surrogates to do things. The surrogates are kind of robots which look like men, and people are connected with them in such a way that if the surrogate is experiencing something, the people will also feel it despite the distance between them.

The movie is all right entertainment, but don’t expect something revolutionary here. It misses several explanations for why things are in such a way.

Aftenposten managed to review this movie as a rubbish movie (tullefilm). The most interesting thing is that the review lacks every thing which has to do with professionalism, and some readers has defined the review as a rubbish review. Check it out here.

In the Valley of Elah

All right drama thriller about a father with military background who experiences his son comes back from the war in Iraq and disappears. Neither the police nor the military is that enthusiastic to find out what actually happened.

The movie is above average entertainment and shows which slum direction the US is going.

Menn som hater Kvinner / Män som hatar kvinnor / Millennium: Part 1 - Men Who Hate Women / The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo

The Swedish movie based on the novel with same title. The book was one of the best novels I’ve read ever. The movie has also got pretty good reviews, and the makers has managed to create the atmosphere and pictures that the reader has made during reading the book. Well done. The movie is meant for the mature audience rather than children.

Despite this, reading novels and watching movies based on the novels often tend to be different experiences. As usual, the movie lacks several portions of the story which were well-elaborated in the novel. In addition, the author described the characters and their thoughts very well in the novel, which is very difficult to show in a movie format. Therefore, for watching the movie is an all right entertaining experience, but reading the novel is the best option.

Paulo Coelho: Elleve minutter / Eleven Minutes

All right interesting novel from the author of The Zahir and The Alchemist. The book is about the relationship of men’s mental and physical satisfaction and follows the story of a girl’s character who lives in a village in Brazil. In order to pursue her dreams, she moves to the town and later ends up as a prostitute in Europe. During this venue, she gets known about the theme of the book.

The book has several interesting thoughts and concepts, but not all of them are that interesting. If you have read other books of this author, you’ll definitely find something interesting in this book as well.

Inglourious Basterds

All right and funny action movie. The movie is almost a typical Tarantino-movie where the story takes in the Nazi-occupied France.

In my opinion, the movie was unnecessary lengthy. The long dialogues were funny, but could have been shorter.

Actually, as experienced earlier, the trailers of the movie were more funny and interesting.

Traitor

Boring action thriller. The concept of Muslim terrorists is used up, and additional movies in this topic should be awarded with flop.

Don Cheadle (who also is among the producers of the movie), plays a role of a Muslim terrorist, and Guy Pearce is a FBI agent. The acting of Pearce is nothing to write home about. The synopsis at the DVD cover is too sale focused and quite a cliché affair like such synopses during the 90’s.

Very interesting book about the policies of USA to gain control over the countries across this planet. The book is a political biography which tells how American politicians use their pocket organizations like World Bank, International Money Fund (IMF) and CIA to put poor developing countries into huge debts knowing that they will never be able to pay back in generations and will default. By using such techniques, they add countries into their empire portfolio. This is actually just a modern way of empire building. The difference lays in that earlier, empires used military power (hit men) to gain control, and now they use economical power by using economic hit men. This is done inn cooperation with large corporations like Halliburton, Shell etc use their financial and political power to play with millions of lives in order to satisfy their opportunistic goals.

The book is written by a former economic hit man who used to work in a large engineering & construction firm, and he was also part of making such deals to take control over countries. The book is well-written and the author will present several interesting facts and stories, which makes the book entertaining too.
