Wire in the Blood / Arr i Sjelen - Season 2

Great series, and has even improved a lot since the previous season. This season consists of four episodes, and I will say that every episode is actually better than an average movie with topic about capturing-serial-killer. In this season, the makers have played with different story telling concepts, and at the same time been loyal to the overall theme.

Münich / München

Münich is the story of the secret Israeli squad assigned to track down and assassinate the 11 Palestinians believed to have planned the 1972 Münich massacre of 11 Israeli athletes. The movie isn’t as pro-Israel as we can have thought if we take into consideration the director’s, Steven Spielberg, Jewish and pro-Israeli background. The director has highlighted his standpoints, which also are highly inspired by the book Vengeance.

The movie is categorized as a thriller, but I think the suspense aspect isn’t that high. The movie is much more drama than thriller. In addition, I think it’s too long, but you don’t get so bored because the script is good which evolves the story forward. The movie is well made in many respects, i.e. script, background score, the visual style etc. Unfortunately, the length smashes the movie watching experience…

Bombay to Bangkok

This movie comes from the team behind the award winning “Iqbal”. The special thing with Iqbal was its unique story and its plot. “Bombay to Bangkok” disappoints to some extent if we compare it to Iqbal. But still not a bad movie at all and it has its own unique plot based on humor and drama.

Avsløringen / Breach

This movie is inspired from a real story where there was discovered in 2001 a double agent in FBI in USA who has been selling vital information to Soviet Union and later Russia for 20 years. The plot was interesting, and the makers tried to make a thriller of the story. Unfortunately, I don’t find the high suspense factor in these so-called thrillers in these days, and these movies should rather be called dramas instead of thrillers. This movie was also nice, and had suspense somehow above average.

National Treasure - Book of Secrets

Adventurous action movie, which follows in the same path as the previous movie in this series. Great entertainment.

The Number 23 (Nummer 23)

Interesting movie about a guy who feels that his life and his surrounding can be summarised to number 23. He gets panicked by this, and the movie is about how he deals with it.

The movie has nice visuals effects, and some places it is noir themes too, which suited the story well. Jim Carrey has given a performance in this thriller, which is very different from his traditional comic roles.

Halla Bol

OK movie. Seems like that the director was in rush at the ending, because it went over quickly at the end.

Robert Wilson: De forsvunne hendene (The Silent and the Damned)

Interesting criminal novel, which also won the award for best European crime novel in 2006. This is the second novel in Javier Falcon series. The first novel in this series is “The Blind Man of Seville”, which I started on twice, but never got motivated to finish it and only read around 10 pages or something.

“De forsvunne hendene” has several titles and here are some of them:

Norwegian: De forsvunne hendene
English: The Silent and the Damned
American: The Vanished Hands

Rehguzar

Lost movie with strange and stupid characters, boring script and even more boring music and finally totally screwed up execution.

Laaga Chunari Mein Daag

OK and time pass movie. I didn’t found anything special with this one. The topic of the movie could have been an advantage from an artistic point of view, but Julie, which came some years ago had similar topic. (The topic is the destiny of a female escort).

28 Weeks Later

This is the sequel to the zombie-kind-of-horror “28 Days Later” which came some years ago. The speciality of these two movies is they aren’t just like another zombie movies, but focuses also on artistic effects to make the movie special. For instance, I liked the visuals which show London in a different angle and the background score which helps to give the feeling of the atmosphere in the script.

The weakness is maybe its genre. After seeing several zombie movies, I do not see any difference between these movies when it comes to scenes where zombies are hunting humans. As I said, this one uses a cool background score, but this also is “copied” from its prequel, so there isn’t much innovation in these terms.

Dil Se..

The whole story began with that this movie was going on B4U. I watched some of it, while waiting for the song “Jiya Jale”. During watching it, it captured my interest, so I decided to watch the whole movie again after almost 10 years.

When this movie came back in 98, it was a great disaster both at the box office and in the critics. A number of critics focused on the characters and argued that their actions were illogical. I found the same characters very interesting, particularly if we take into consideration the unstable political environment they are living in.

Despite lots of people didn’t liked this movie, it had its fan as well. A know about a guy who bought this movie on VHS several times (3-4 I think), and watched it numerous times.

The movie is somehow artistic love story with typical bollywood elements. The love story is “old fashioned” where I boy falls in love with a girl at first sight without even knowing her, and the rest of the movie is about his search for her and the passion to get her.

The movie has great music (except Chhaiya Chhaiya which I never have liked) and background score. Some of the background score has music of the songs, and it urges you to beg; when on hell is the song coming? The composer, A.R. Rahman hasn’t made so many commercially good albums after this one.

By the way, did you know some interesting facts like that known names like Ram Gopal Varma and Shekhar Kapur were also producers of this film?

Shahrukh Khan has done a remarkable job in his field, namely playing a man who is desperately searching for love.
