After watching Inception, I was really in mood to watch another Christopher Nolan-classic, so I watched this one, again. This movie is simply fantastic and amazing, and you’ll notice more of its amazingness if you watch it second time.

Import Eksport
A must watch with my wife. I basically like this movie, and the reason isn’t the relationship between me and this movie :). But after watching it two times earlier, not everything is that interesting anymore.

Inception
Interesting, fascinating and complicated movie from the director of The Dark Knight, The Prestige and Batman Begins (Christopher Nolan). This movie has received good critics almost all over with good reasons, and therefore I had huge expectations before watching it. As mentioned, the movie is fascinating and complicated with good execution and great visuals, and it’s the complication which has reduced the rating of it. Not everything is understandable when you watch it for the first time, but it can happen that you’ll understand more when you watch it second time and then also improve its rating.
The story deals “in a world where technology exists to enter the human mind through dream invasion, a highly skilled thief is given a final chance at redemption which involves executing his toughest job till date”.

Prison Break – The Final Break
We needed to get the answers for what actually happened at the end. This movie provided it, and thereby closes this entertaining series.

My name is Khan
The latest adventure from Karan Johar, Shahrukh Khan (SRK) and Kajol. SRK plays a role of autism, which is one of his better performances. The story deals around 9/11 attacks and its effects on desis in USA. I think the movie is too lengthy, and the climax is too filmy and larger-than-life. I’ve expected something different from this kind of movie with such serious topics. Several portions of the movie are simply gripping which tells us that the movie is well made with a good script. But the length of the movie drags it somehow down.

The Kite Runner
Nice and touching movie, which is based on the novel with same title. I actually liked the movie better than the novel, probably because the movie didn’t focus too much on the political side of the story.

The Curious Case of Benjamin Button / Den fantastiske historien om Benjamin Button
Drama movie about life and death, inspired from a short story, about a man (Brad Pitt) who is born as old and ages in reverse by getting younger and younger. The first hour of the movie was boring, and a proportion of it could have been cut or done otherwise. Afterwards, the movie picked up with a nice climax and ending. The movie is made by David Fincher, who has made several remarkable movies earlier, i.e. Zodiac, Fight Club, The Game and Se7en. The movie has several sub concepts, which are nice elements to the story and confirms that David Fincher is a story teller in his own division.

The Taking of Pelham 123 / Metro 123 Kapret
Cool and catchy action thriller, based on a novel and movie from 1970’s. The movie is cool edited, has several good cinematographically shots, all right background score and script. It’s made by Tony Scott, who has made several cool movies earlier, i.e. Déjà Vu, Man on Fire and Spy Game.
The story is somehow typical; a group of men hijack a metro train in New York and demand $10 millions. Despite the fact that this kind of stories have been used earlier tremendous times, this movie is treated that well that it is still interesting to watch. Actually, the rhythm of this movie reminded me of Speed, who also had a story about hijack (of a bus).
Denzel Washington and John Travolta deliver good performances, but Travolta’s voice wasn’t that matching to his look, but this can easily be ignored when you take other positive elements of the movie into consideration.

8 x 10 Tasveer
Cool supernatural thriller with Akshay Kumar, made by Nagesh Kukunoor (i.e. 3 Deewarein and Iqbal). The movie is made in Canada, and has lots of beautiful outdoor locations. The story is following; Jai’s (Akshay Kumar) has a supernatural talent to go back in time by looking into a picture. His father dies, and a detective (Javed Jaffrey) approaches Jai claiming that his father’s death is suspicious. Jai first denies this, but later finds out that several people have strange motives which could have led to his father’s death…The movie is well made and has several thrilling moments and twists. Unfortunately, it failed at the box office. Still, its regarded as one of Akshay Kumar’s favourite films he had done.

Green Zone
Super cool movie from the maker of last two Bourne movies (The Bourne Supremacy and The Bourne Ultimatum), Paul Greengrass. This time, Matt Damon is playing the role of a warrant officer, Roy Miller. The movie is inspired from the non-fiction 2006 book “Imperial Life in the Emerald City” by a journalist. The story deals around the invasion of Iraq, because Bush & co with US intelligence had so-called proof of that Saddam Hussein was holding Weapons of Mass Destruction (WMD). So during the attack, Roy Miller is responsible to find these WMD, but where can he find them when they doesn’t exist? Roy starts investigating what actually is going on and unexpected things starts happening…The movie has a very political message, and as mostly people know, Americans went to the war primarily because of oil and gas reserves. Despite the fact you know the background; the movie is highly suspenseful and entertaining. Its ending during the last 3-5 minuts of the movie was somehow clicheful, but otherwise it’s recommended entertainment. The execution style is pretty much like the last two Bourne-movies with handheld cameras to give a realistic approach. In addition, some of the execution also reminded of the war series Generation Kill.

Dexter - Season 2
The plot in the second season of Dexter continues after where the story of first season ended. The first 3-4-5 episodes in this season aren’t that inspiring, but the show picked up afterwards.Rating: 4/5 of 6
Shutter Island
Interesting psychological thriller, made by Martin Scorsese with Leonardo DiCaprio in the lead role. The film is based on the 2003 novel of the same name. The plot is following: In 1954, U.S. Marshal Teddy Daniels (Leonardo DiCaprio) and his partner, Chuck Aule (Mark Ruffalo), go to the Ashecliff Hospital for the criminally insane on Shutter Island. They are investigating the disappearance of Rachel Solando, and mysterious things starts happening to them and particularly Teddy Daniels…
For those of us who have seen various psychological thrillers earlier, the climax of this movie isn’t that surprising. Therefore, the climax wasn’t that unexpected. On the other hand, this kind of movies tends to have particular visuals, and Shutter Island also has nice visuals. In addition, the music is also powerful to give the proper experience of the atmosphere in the movie.

Pyaar Impossible
I started to watch this movie in the middle of it since it was playing at home, and it grabbed my interest. The story is about a computer geek (Uday Chopra) who is in love with Alisha (Priyanka Chopra), but can’t tell her. In addition, he has a conflict going on with Dino Morea’s character. As mentioned, the movie was interesting, but the climax and ending was too clichéful.

Jo Nesbø: Hodejegerne / The Headhunters
This novel is independent of Jo Nesbø’s earlier works, and isn’t about the character Harry Hole. The novel is interesting. Actually, the first 70-80 pages were relatively average, but after that the plot picked up a lot.It is about Roger Brown, who is a successful and overconfident headhunter in the recruiting business. On an assignment, he meets Clas Greve, who Roger regards as perfect candidate for an executive position until Roger founds out something disturbing about him…

Kurbaan
All right movie about the hot topic in these days; namely terrorism by Islamic fundamentalists. The movie is just average. It began well with fast editing and speed, but slowed down after around 40 minutes and thereafter focuses hugely on drama. New York with a similar topic was a better movie actually.Rating: 5/4 of 6

Gran Torino
Good drama from Clint Eastwood. He plays the role of a retired and recently widowed Korean War veteran, and is angry at the world around him. After an episode, where he saves his neighbour, they start making a relationship. The film marks Eastwood's return to a lead acting role after four years after Million Dollar Baby, and Eastwood has stated that this is his final film as an actor. Sad news, but we hope that he’ll continue to make good movies in the future.
