American Gangster

American Gangster is directed by Ridley Scott, who has also given us Gladiator, Matchstick Men, Kingdom of Heaven etc etc. Therefore, I had some expectation from this movie. So this Saturday, I and a friend were sitting in the cinema hall with 9 other people to watch this one (one of the nine others left during the movie).

And then it began. Slowly, slowly and slowly the story evolved. The script was good, so movie wasn’t exactly boring, but unnecessary lengthy. The background score was good, and climax was also good executed.

When it comes to rate this movie, at the worst in the middle of the movie, I was considering to give it 2. But it picked up, and climax was good. Therefore, I find it difficult to give a correct rating, but I think the following isn’t that incorrect.

Rating: 3 of 6

Mmm- I actually downgraded it on my blog from 2/3 to a plain 2. A big dissapointment indeed! I didn't care about the characters at all! And I still wouldn't have if the movie was shorter, but that would have made it better nevertheless.

Yeah...it wasn't that good at all. However, I liked various things with it, particularly the background music when the movie was focusing on Denzel Washington’s character. Therefore, I think 2 is too hard judgement :)
