Green Zone

Super cool movie from the maker of last two Bourne movies (The Bourne Supremacy and The Bourne Ultimatum), Paul Greengrass. This time, Matt Damon is playing the role of a warrant officer, Roy Miller. The movie is inspired from the non-fiction 2006 book “Imperial Life in the Emerald City” by a journalist. The story deals around the invasion of Iraq, because Bush & co with US intelligence had so-called proof of that Saddam Hussein was holding Weapons of Mass Destruction (WMD). So during the attack, Roy Miller is responsible to find these WMD, but where can he find them when they doesn’t exist? Roy starts investigating what actually is going on and unexpected things starts happening…

The movie has a very political message, and as mostly people know, Americans went to the war primarily because of oil and gas reserves. Despite the fact you know the background; the movie is highly suspenseful and entertaining. Its ending during the last 3-5 minuts of the movie was somehow clicheful, but otherwise it’s recommended entertainment. The execution style is pretty much like the last two Bourne-movies with handheld cameras to give a realistic approach. In addition, some of the execution also reminded of the war series Generation Kill.

The Bourne Supremacy / Gåten Jason Bourne

A great thriller, which was sequel of The Bourne Identity. When I watched it for the first time, I thought the first movie was better. After watching it for 4th time this time, I understood much more of the movie and gave a wonderful experience. The movie is somehow complicated structured compared to previous one, which makes it slightly difficult to get into all the details of the story.

The Bourne Identity / Hvem var Jason Bourne

The summer is here (at least according to the calendar despite the weather isn’t that summer’ish), and guess what’s on agenda? To watch the Bourne-trilogy again. But this time, I noticed that I have watched this movie too many times because it wasn’t that interesting anymore. In addition, it seems like that the story evolves slowly compared to later movies in this series and today’s action thrillers with lots of clips and high speed. I think that I’ll watch it with the commentaries of the makers next time when I watch it in order to make it more interesting for me.

Still, this movie is a classic piece of work in the field of action thrillers and spy movies, so it will always keep a special place in my list of favourite movies.

I bought this DVD edition as well because it was supposed to include so-called extended and explosive scenes. This is totally crap. This edition only had an alternate non-explosive ending, which wasn’t included in the bonus material of the first edition. And there weren’t any other explosive scenes either.

The previous review of this movie.

The Bourne Identity / Hvem var Jason Bourne

A great spy action thriller, which is among my favourite movies. This is the 5th or 6th time I’ve watched it, and the movie seem to be slightly less interesting. The reason is that I mostly know what’s going on. But still, Matt Damon and Chris Cooper have delivered superior performances and some of the thrilling moments are great to watch again.

A cool movie. As for the previous movie in this series, I think that I’ll watch it with the commentaries of the makers next time when I watch it in order to make it more interesting for me.

The Bourne Ultimatum

Yes yes yes, finally, we got the third movie in the Bourne-series set up at cinema here. And just imagine how excited I was to watch it. (Just for info, the previous two movies in the series are among my favourite movies). The movie was just like as expected. Loaded with good action and suspense thriller. And the background score was again excellent, which is based on the theme of the previous movies.

I must say that the first movie was fuller of story progress than the last two movies. Both the second and third could possibly been one movie. Seen from other point of view, if you have two movies instead of one, there is more fun to watch.

There has been used hand held camera in the movie, and I think that this can be irritating sometime.

Chamku

All right and time pass action thriller, which is loosely based on Shooter and Bourne-movies.

Duplicity

All right drama comedy spy movie with Clive Owen and Julia Roberts. The movie is about two former spies who join the business world and use their earlier working techniques to make money.

The movie is all right funny, and gives sometimes feeling of being in a category like Ocean’s Eleven, but Duplicity tend to have too many kind of twists. After a while, you’ll notice that nothing is as it seems in the story which will make reduce involving too. On the other side, the movie has cool editing.

It is the director of Michael Clayton, Tony Gilroy, who has made this movie. He has earlier also written several scripts, i.e. Bourne movies.

The Bourne Ultimatum

Fantastic action thriller, just like the previous movies in this trilogy. And the background score is again terrific.

First time I commented it.

Shooter

Shooter is an interesting action thriller. Sometimes it reminds you of the Bourne-movies, and it has some routine based elements as in American action movies. Still it is good entertainment.

Varg Veum – Din til Døden (Yours Until Death)

All right interesting thriller, but not that good as the previous two movies. As I said for the first movie in this series, it’s good that the Varg Veum movies has started to set more focus on the background score, but it’s not that inspiring when you notice that the music is clearly inspired by other movies and tend to be too similar to them. In this case, some of the score seemed similar to the score from Bourne-movies.
